From Saint-Léger des Vignes, near Decize (Nièvre department), to Auxerre (Yonne department), the Nivernais Canal stretches over 178 kilometers and counts 122 locks, 23 dams and some remarkable works among which 2 little canal bridges, 3 tunnels, a scale of 16 lock over 3 km. Today, its only purpose is for tourist activities. It is the second most popular canal for boating, behind the famous Canal du Midi. It won several times the national prize for flower garnishment and is also regularly praised for its lockkeeper warm reception, the variety of its landscapes and its maintenance.
