Day 1 - Arrival in  Passau

Arrival in Passau, Settling at the hotel. Passau is an Ilz and Danube feeder. The humanist Alexandre Humblot said it was one of the 7 most beautiful cities of Germany.

Day 2 - From Passau to Schlögen - 43 Km

After enjoying Passau charms, you will ride along the fabulous Danube River. Only few kilometers on a secondary road and you will enjoy the cycle path that will lead you along the Danube for an unforgettable journey, away from traffic to the famous Danube loop of Schlögener.

Day 3 - Schlögen to Linz - 59 Km

Always on cycle paths, you will ride on old towpaths. You will discover Aschbach and Ottensheim villages, with its old fish markets and age-old houses. On both side of the Danube, you may visit huge castles, forts and monasteries. Soon, you will see Linz, the capital of Upper-Austria.

Day 4  - From Linz to Grein or Ardagger - 63 Km

Change of landscape, the Danube valley gets wider and gives way to cultivated fields. The valley narrows again and you get to Grein, located on the Strudengau, this narrowing was really feared by bargees. You will enjoy strolling in this picturesque city. Don't miss the city hall and the municipal theater.

Night in Grein or Bad Kreuzen.

Day 5  - From Grein or Ardagger to Melk or Maria Taferl - 56 Km

Along the Danube, this stage will lead you through the Nibelungengau. Don't miss visiting the Benedictine Abbey which has been built on a rock dominating the river.

Day 6 - From Melk or Maria Taferl to Krems or Traismauer - 45 Km

A new side of the wonderful tour : vineyards. You must leave the Danube for a while to appreciate local wines. That's how you will ride through Spitz and Weißenkirchen villages.

Dinner and night in Krems or Traismauer.

Day 7 - From Krems or Traismauer to Vienna - 52 Km riding and 21 km by train

From Krems to Vienna, 52 or 82 Km. You can shorten the stage and take the train to get to Vienna and visit the city with its numerous and prestigious building, a town steeped in history, formerly cultural capital of Europe.

Day 8 - Vienna back to Passau
End of the tour after breakfast, transfer back to Passau by bus (car park/train station). Free visit of Vienna or extra night.
