Have a unique cycling experience in the heart of wine-growing Alsace and discover the charms and secrets of traditional villages. Each cycling route around Colmar will make you appreciate the many aspects of this superb region. You will cycle in peace on the cycle paths and the small wine roads.
This exceptional cycling route invites you to visit the three great Alsatian capitals: Strasbourg, Colmar and Mulhouse.

Day 1: Arrival in Colmar

Welcome to the Alsatian town of Colmar to reach your hotel. Discover the capital of Alsace wines, its little Venice, which houses canals and the fish market with its colorful half-timbered houses. Colmar is also a gourmet's paradise, discover the best restaurant addresses during your stay. You can also stroll in the covered market to find specialties.

 

Day 2: The famous wine villages - 60 or 45 km

You will leave Colmar to head north. After Houssen you head towards the vineyard near Ribeauvillé. Your cycling route today takes you to discover wine-growing villages such as Riquewihr, Turckheim, Eguisheim.

 

Day 3: Colmar - Munster - 45 km

From Colmar, head towards the valley of Munster via Turckheim and Zimmerbach. Rounded summits, high stubble, steep slopes and glacial lakes offer a varied landscape of the Munster valley, one of the most beautiful in the Vosges mountains.

The town of Munster is known for its cheese of the same name which is produced around the town.

It is one of the essential gastronomic delights of Alsace. Return to Colmar by the cycle path that winds through the valley.

 

Day 4: Breisach am Rhein - 70 km

This cycling stage invites you to discover the villages of the Rhine valley. You will reach Neuf-Brisach, a town fortified by Vauban in the 19th century, then cross the Rhine and finally reach Breisach am Rhein in Germany. The Rhine Canal cycle path guides you to Marckolsheim on the French bank of the Rhine. Here you can visit a fortified work of the Maginot Line.

Return to Colmar by the canal cycle path.

 

Day 5: Colmar - Guebwiller - Mulhouse - 50/76 km + return by train

Follow the Alsace Wine Route to the south to reach Guebwiller. You can then go to Bollwiller to take a train or continue driving to Ungersheim to visit the Alsace Ecomuseum. From there, the cycle path will lead you directly to Mulhouse. Return by train to Colmar.

Ground :


Hilly, very rolling roads and paths. Program with cycle paths, and small country roads.

 

Weather :


Spring, mild with possible cold waves. Summers, hot and dry. Autumns, pleasant temperatures.

 

Technicality:


25 to 55 km of hiking per day, or about 2 to 5 hours of cycling.
Partly signposted route, map reading desired. Open to everyone.

Breakfasts: generous (coffee, tea, chocolate, milk, butter, bread, jam, orange juice) or buffet.

The bike :


- Rental bike: 21-speed VTC which will be delivered to you at the first hotel. A security deposit will be requested.
At the end of the tour, you will have to leave the bike at the first hotel and notify reception.

 

- Personal bicycle: We do not recommend bicycles with small tires. Hybrid bikes and mountain bikes are excellent, remember to check your bicycle before setting off.
At the end of the circuit, you will have to take care of your bike.

 

Assistance:


Assistance in case of breakdown (except punctures for which we do not intervene).

 

Luggage:


During the stay, they are transported by a courier or by our team and limited to one piece of luggage per person (max. 20 kg).

We will provide you with detailed maps and a description of the routes when you arrive at the first hotel. We will also provide you with vouchers for hotels and restaurants as well as luggage tags.

 

Transport :

 

  • Arrival by train at Colmar station
  • Arrival by plane at Strasbourg airport, shuttle to Strasbourg station, train between Strasbourg and Colmar, taxi to the hotel (Station - hotel ≈ 15 minutes on foot, Cat.B). Other airports nearby: Mulhouse / Bâle (approx. 60 km)


Car park :


If you are coming by car, you can reserve your parking space at the first hotel (subject to availability).
