Day 1: Arrival in Colmar
Check into your hotel. Enjoy your free time to stroll around the historic center and discover the medieval streets and pretty flower-filled canals.
Day 2: Wine Villages Loop (45 or 60 km)
Today, two options are possible. Leave Colmar and take the famous Alsace Wine Route. It takes you through splendid wine villages such as Ribeauvillé, Hunawihr, Riquewihr or Kientzheim, which have made the reputation of Alsatian great wines. The long option extends the pleasure to Turckheim and Eguisheim, which are among "The Most Beautiful Villages of France".
Day 3: Day of rest
Today, fill your free time as you wish. We recommend visiting the Isenheim Altarpiece, a masterpiece of the Rhenish Renaissance. It's located in the chapel of the Unterlinden Museum, a must-see for art and culture enthusiasts. If you enjoy wine, you should know that Colmar is considered the capital of Alsatian wines. Take some time to relax on one of the many inviting terraces and taste one or more local wines.
Day 4: The Munster Valley (45 km)
Head west towards the city of Munster. You cycle along the river of the same name and can taste the cheese that is one of the culinary emblems of the region. Don't hesitate to accompany it with a glass of Gewurtztraminer or Pinot Gris, two other local specialties. You return to Colmar by cycle path in the heart of the valley.
Day 5: Neuf-Brisach and Vieux Brisach, between Germany and the Rhine Valley (70 km)
This stage leads you to the East of Colmar. Cycle towards Neuf-Brisach, which deserves a stop. This medieval village, with its Vauban fortress, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After crossing the Rhine and the border, you visit the village of Vieux-Brisach (Breisach am Rhein in German). Its cathedral, its city center and its picturesque alleys are worth the visit. Continue your route along the Rhine before cycling back to France to Marckolsheim. You can visit a fortified structure of the Maginot Line there. You return to Colmar by the Rhine Canal cycle path.
