Alsace by bike and wine route, from Strasbourg to Colmar

 

 

The gastronomy and the wines make the reputation of Alsace. This region also has an exceptional infrastructure of cycle paths, which today makes it one of the most beautiful cycling destinations in France. From Strasbourg to Colmar, typical villages and quiet paths through the vineyards will allow you to discover and appreciate, in addition to good food and good wines, an exceptional nature through tradition and history.

Day 1: Arrival in Strasbourg

Arrival in Strasbourg and installation at the hotel. Take the time to discover the city, its Cathedral and the Europeans Institutions
through picturesque neighborhoods, such as Petite France.

 

Day 2 : Strasbourg - Obernai region / 40 ou 55 km

The Canal de la Bruche was once used to transport wine from the wineries in the Strasbourg capital. Today the
cycle path runs along the canal from Strasbourg to Molsheim. Discover the 12th century Rosheim church, before finishing your stage by bike in Obernai or Barr.

 

Day 3 : Obernai region - Riquewihr region / 50 ou 35 km

On the tarmac paths, you cross the vineyard and the villages with half-timbered houses while admiring the blooming geraniums. Discover Mittelbergheim, Dambach la ville, Ribeauvillé, and Riquewihr which are among the most beautiful villages in France.

 

Day 4 : Riquewihr region - Colmar / 40 km

The Wine Route and its traditional villages will take you from the vineyard to the capital of wine and art in Alsace. Continue your journey to Turckheim and Eguisheim. Arrival in Colmar, city of the sculptor of the Statue of Liberty, Bartholdi, or the genius painters of the Renaissance Martin Schongauer and Matthias Grünewald.

 

Day 5 : end of trip

Your trip ends after breakfast. 

Departure or extension of your stay with the possibility of an additional night.

Ground :


Hilly, very rolling roads and paths. Program with cycle paths, and small country roads.

 

Weather :


Spring, mild with possible waves of cold. Summers, hot and dry. Autumns, pleasant temperatures.

 

Technicality :


25 to 55 km of hiking per day, or about 2 to 5 hours of cycling.
Partly signposted route, map reading desired. Open to everyone.

Additional nights : 


An additional night is offered to you at the start and end of your stay.

 

Food :


Breakfasts: generous (coffee, tea, chocolate, milk, butter, bread, jam, orange juice) or buffet.
Lunches: not included
Dinners: not included.

 

The bike :


- Rental bike : 21-speed VTC which will be delivered to you at the first hotel. A security deposit will be requested.
At the end of the tour, you will have to leave the bike at the first hotel and notify reception.

 

- Personal bike : We do not recommend bikes with small tires. Hybrid bikes and mountain bikes are excellent, remember to check your bicycle before setting off.
At the end of the circuit, you will have to take care of your bike.

 

Assistance :


Assistance in the event of breakdown (except punctures for which we do not intervene).

 

Luggage :


During the stay, they are transported by a courier or by our team and limited to one piece of luggage per person (max. 20 kg).

 

Roadbook :


We will provide you with detailed maps and a description of the routes when you arrive at the first hotel. We will also give you vouchers for hotels and restaurants as well as luggage tags.

 

Transportation :


- By train: TGV station in Strasbourg
- By road: Strasbourg is 500 km east of Paris. A4 from Paris.
- By plane: Strasbourg airport.

 

Parking :


A parking space is possible at the first hotel payable locally or car parks near the hotel.
