Danube cruise between Passau and Vienna

The Danube by bike on Eurovelo 6 is one of the most successful and popular routes for cycle tourists. The valleys and their landscape, the superb vineyards and the expanses of the Hungarian plains will leave you with lasting memories of this cruise. You can contemplate and visit abbeys, castles and palaces as well as cities like Vienna or Linz.

Day 1: Passau
Individual arrival in Passau by train or car and transfer from our local correspondent's private car park or from Passau's main station to the Primadonna boat, at around 16:30 (if booked).
During dinner, you will enjoy a welcome briefing with the week's programme.
Sail to Obermühl, where the boat docks for the night.
Day 2: Schlögen to Linz - 56 km
Collection of hire bikes. Your first cycle tour on the Danube begins through the valley near Kaiserau. You reach Ottensheim and then the dynamic and culturally rich city of Linz. You can visit the historic city centre, Hauptsatz square and Linz Cathedral.
Optional: "200 years of Anton Bruckner" concert on the Bruckner organ in Linz.
Day 3: Linz to Grein - 57 km
Disembark and take the cycle path that leads directly into the countryside. Your cycle tour takes you through magnificent countryside to Lake Pleschinger See. You can admire the castles of Pragstein, Wallsee and Greinburg. The Primadonna awaits you in the charming baroque town of Grein, which you can visit in the evening.
Day 4: Ybbs to Wachau Dürnstein - 59 km
From Ybbs/Persenbeug, drive to Gottsdorf on the north bank to the Wachau valley. You arrive in the first wine villages via Gottsdorf and Emmersdorf, along the vineyards, passing through the famous wine village of Dürnstein.
Day 5: Dürnstein to Vienna - 59 km
Cycle through the Wachau and the Vienna Woods to Krems (UNESCO World Heritage Site), Gozzoburg and Königsberg.
The tour continues by bike to the flower-filled town of Tulln (Egon Schiele Museum with 16 originals) before returning to the ship for lunch. Sail to Vienna, then take an individual tour of the city of the waltz.
Optional: at 9:30 pm, visit Vienna by night (1h30).
Day 6: Vienna to Bratislava - 27 km
On this day, you have 2 options: a tour of Vienna by bike (27 km) or a trip through the Donau-Auen National Park (68 km).
Option 1: Vienna by bike on a cycle path with an optional visit to the Vienna Museum of Art History. Join the Primadonna for lunch on board or take away lunch for the second option.
Option 2: Boat trip in the National Park to Hainburg and Bratislava on a cycle path along the Danube through the National Park via Wolfsthal to the centre of Bratislava.
Day 7: Melk to Grein - 52 km
This stage continues through Wachau and Strudengau. A visit to Melk and its monastery is a must before starting the cycle route to Pöchlarn, Freyenstein and then Grein.
Your cycling trip on the Danube is coming to an end. Enjoy your last evening with a farewell dinner.
Day 8: Passau
Disembark in Passau before 10 am. A bus transfer will take you back to the station or to the car park (if reserved).
