This cycling trip in Burgundy invites you to cross prestigious vineyards and admire castles on greenways suitable for everyone. Slightly hilly, you can reward your efforts with the tasting of world-renowned Grands Crus and enjoy a rich, equally renowned gastronomy.

Southern Burgundy is ideal for cycling since it is the location of the first greenway in France between Givry and Cluny. On this route, you leave from Dijon to cross picturesque villages and enjoy all the riches of Southern Burgundy by bike.

Day 1: Arrival in Dijon

Your arrival in Dijon is scheduled for the afternoon. Take time to visit the city, its historic heart, the palace of the Dukes of Burgundy and the international city of gastronomy and wine. If you don't have time to see everything, plan an extra night.

Day 2: Dijon - Nuits St Georges - 22 km

Your cycling route in southern Burgundy begins on the Route des Grands Crus to Nuits-Saint-Georges. You will cross the villages of Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey St Denis, Chambolle-Musigny before reaching Vougeot.
Overnight in Nuits-Saint-George.

 

Day 3: Nuits St Georges - Beaune - 23 km

You will leave Nuits-Saint-Georges to take the direction of Beaune, capital of Burgundy wines.
Overnight in Beaune.

 

Day 4: Beaune - Chassey le Camp - 25 km

This stage crosses the Côte de Beaune and famous villages like Pommard, Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. Here, you can admire the mythical plot of Montrachet, considered as one of the greatest white wines in the world.
Overnight near Chassey le Camp.

 

Day 5: Chassey le Camp - Dracy-le-Fort - 25 km

Join the greenway along the Canal du Centre towards Châlon-sur-Saône. You can see the vineyards of the Côte Chalonnaise and take a leap back to the Middle Ages by visiting the Château de Germolles.
Overnight in Dracy.

 

Day 6: Dracy-le-Fort - Cluny - 44 km

Here is a very easy cycling stage along the famous greenway between Givry and Cluny through a very diversified landscape between forests and traditional habitats. Along the way, you can visit the medieval town of St Gengoux le National. Continue to Cormatin and its castle before reaching Cluny in a more hilly landscape.
Overnight in Cluny.


Day 7: Cluny - Mâcon - 28 km

You will follow the greenway through the Val Lamartinien and its landscapes dominated by the rocks of Solutré, Vergisson and Mont-Pouilly, classified as a major site in France.
Cross the vineyards and the villages of the Mâconnais where the poet Lamartine lived. On this stage, you will cross the Bois Clair tunnel.
Overnight in Macon.

 

Day 8: end of your cycling trip in southern Burgundy

Your stay ends after breakfast.

Ground :


Flat, very rolling roads and paths. Program with cycle paths and paths. When the track is bad, small parallel roads with little traffic. Use of the Greenway.

Technicality:


22 to 44 km of hiking per day, or about 2 to 4 hours of cycling.
Easy to follow route along the canals.

  • Breakfasts: copious (coffee, tea, chocolate, milk, butter, bread, jam, orange juice) or buffet.

  • Dinners: optional (7 dinners)

The bike :

 

  • Rental bike: Standard bike or ebike which will be given to you upon your arrival. Possibility to rent an electric bike on request. At the end of the circuit, you must leave this bike at the last hotel and notify the reception. We will take care of his return.
  • Personal bicycle: We do not recommend bicycles with small tires. Hybrid bikes and mountain bikes are excellent. Remember to check your bike before leaving. At the end of the circuit, you will have to take care of your own bicycle.

 

Support:


Assistance in the event of a breakdown (except punctures for which we do not intervene).

 

Baggage:


They are transported by a courier or by our team and limited to one piece of luggage per person. (max. 20 kg).

 

Roadbook :

You will receive by post and e-mail your travel booklet with all the information you need for your stay. We will provide you with detailed maps and route descriptions, hotel and restaurant vouchers and luggage tags.

- By road: Dijon is on the A6 (Paris-Lyon) 315 km from Paris
- By plane: Auxerre or Paris airport
