The Canal des 2 mers, between Bordeaux and Toulouse

The Garonne canal by bike is a route recognized by cycle tourists, rich in a historical and cultural heritage that you will be happy to discover. This circuit runs along the canal between Bordeaux and Toulouse, passing through Agen, Castelsarrasin and Moissac.

Day 1: Arrival in Bordeaux
Check-in at the hotel. Depending on your arrival time in the city, you can plan some sightseeing during the day (Cité du Vin, Bassin des Lumières, Bordeaux Quays, etc.).
Overnight in Bordeaux.
Day 2: From Bordeaux to Camiran (71 km)
If you have reserved a bicycle, it will be delivered to your hotel in the morning. This first leg takes you along the Scandibérique route. Between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, you will discover a picturesque landscape of vineyards. The second part of the route follows the beautiful Roger Lapébie cycle path. From Créon, you will reach Sauveterre-de-Duyenne and its magnificent fortified gates. Camiran is not far away.

Day 3: From Camiran to Tonneins (50 km)
The day begins in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers region with more varied landscapes than the previous day. In La Réole, you'll reach the Garonne Canal. Take some time to stroll through its narrow streets, visit the 13th-century Church of Saint-Pierre, and enjoy the panoramic view of the Garonne Valley from the main square. Get back on your bike and follow the route that takes you past the Match Museum. A stop is a must in Meilhan-sur-Garonne to appreciate a lovely viewpoint. The highlight of the day is Mas d'Agenais, where the Church of Saint-Vincent houses Rembrandt's magnificent painting "Christ on the Cross." Recovered from your experiences, cross the Garonne River to reach Tonneins, your stop for the night.

Day 4: From Tonneins to Agen (48 km)
Today, you'll follow the canal through Damazan, a charming village with its half-timbered houses. The "Canal des 2 Mers à Vélo" cycle route continues along the greenway beside the Garonne Canal, passing through the lively port of Buzet-sur-Baïse, a town renowned for its Côte de Buzet cheese. Access to Agen is via one of the longest canal bridges in France (600 m). The city shares the title of capital of the Lot-et-Garonne department and prune capital, but boasts many other attractions, as evidenced by the remarkable heritage of its historic center.
Day 5: From Agen to Castelsarrasin
From Agen to Moissac, the cycle path follows the canal. Moissac, on the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago), is famous for its abbey church and cloister, considered among the most beautiful in the world. The entire complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the Way of St. James pilgrimage route. The Canal des 2 Mers cycle route leaves Moissac via the Cacor aqueduct, then leads to Castelsarrasin, where its marina marks the beginning of your visit to the town, with its eventful history, historic buildings, and the Church of St. Sauveur.

Day 6: From Castelsarrasin to Toulouse (62 km)
Join the greenway along the Garonne Canal and pass through Montech, with its fortified towns and water slope, then Grisolles and the Calbet Museum, and finally Castelnau d'Estretefonds. Here, you leave the tranquility of the canal and head towards Toulouse at the Ponts-Jumeaux (Twin Bridges), the junction point between the Garonne Canal, the Brienne Canal, and the Canal du Midi. Enjoy the vibrant and colorful atmosphere of Toulouse.

Day 7: Toulouse
End of your trip after breakfast. You have the option to book additional nights. We can also arrange a private transfer or book a train ticket to Bordeaux.
