The Canal des 2 mers, between Bordeaux and Toulouse

The Garonne canal by bike is a route recognized by cycle tourists, rich in a historical and cultural heritage that you will be happy to discover. This circuit runs along the canal between Bordeaux and Toulouse, passing through Agen, Castelsarrasin and Moissac.

Day 1 - Arrival in Bordeaux
Check in at your hotel in the city center. Depending on your arrival time, you can plan some visits during the day (Cité du Vin, Bassin des Lumières, Bordeaux Quays, etc.).
Overnight in Bordeaux.
Day 2 - Bordeaux - Sauveterre de Guyenne - 57 km
Your bike will be delivered to your hotel in the morning. The first stage takes you along the Scandiberique cycle route to Sauveterre-de-Guyenne, cycling between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, amidst a landscape of vineyards. The second part follows the Tour de Gironde route from Créon on the Roger Lapébie cycle path, leading you into Sauveterre through its fortified gates.

Day 3 - From Sauveterre de Guyenne to Varès - 68 km
In the heart of Entre-deux-Mers, this cycle route with more varied terrain leads to the Garonne Canal at La Réole. Explore the narrow streets, the 13th-century St-Pierre Church, and the esplanade with views over the Garonne valley.
The route continues near the Musée de l'Allumette, with a stop in Meilhan-sur-Garonne offering breathtaking views.
Le Mas-d'Agenais is the highlight, with the St-Vincent Church and Rembrandt's "Christ on the Cross." The panoramic view over the Garonne completes the visit.

Day 4 - From Varès to Agen - 52 km
You begin the day by crossing the Garonne at Tonneins to join the lateral canal. From there, you follow the canal through Damazan, known for its half-timbered houses. The "Canal des 2 Mers by bike" route continues along the Garonne Canal’s greenway, passing through the lively port of Buzet-sur-Baïse, a town renowned for its Buzet wine. You reach Agen via one of France's largest canal bridges (600 m). The city, known as the capital of Lot-et-Garonne and the prune capital, also offers a wealth of attractions, including the remarkable heritage of its historic center.

Day 5 - From Agen to Castelsarrasin - 54 km
From Agen to Moissac, the cycle path follows the canal. Moissac, on the Camino de Santiago, is famous for its abbey church and its cloister, ranked among the most beautiful in the world. The entire complex is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route. The Canal des 2 Mers by bike leaves Moissac via the Cacor canal bridge and leads to Castelsarrasin, where its marina marks the start of the city tour, with its eventful history, historical buildings, and the St-Sauveur church.

Day 6 - From Castelsarrasin to Toulouse - 61 km
Follow the greenway along the Garonne Canal, passing through Montech with its bastides and water slope, then Grisolles and the Calbet Museum, and finally Castelnau d'Estretefonds. Here, you leave the peaceful canal to approach Toulouse, reaching the twin bridges, where the Garonne Canal, the Brienne Canal, and the Canal du Midi meet. Enjoy the vibrant and colorful atmosphere of Toulouse.

Day 7 - Toulouse
