THE CYCLING TOUR

 

What is included in the price shown for each cycling tour on the website?

All our cycling holidays include at least the following:

  • Nights and breakfasts
  • Luggage transfer between accommodations (if touring)
  • Digital or printed travel guide
  • 24/7 telephone support

You can find the inclusions, options, and services not included in each holiday under the "Information" tab.

 

When is the best time to go cycling?

It all depends on the destination. Destinations in the south of France and Europe are best enjoyed off-season to avoid the intense heat. Other destinations are extremely popular in July and August, so it's best to go in the spring or early autumn. Destinations in northern Europe (Scotland, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, etc.) are perfect in summer and late spring to enjoy ideal temperatures and long days.

 

Are your cycling tours guided?

Most of La Bicyclette Verte's tours are self-guided. We provide everything you need for a self-guided cycling trip. If you would like a guide, please don't hesitate to contact us.

 

What is the seasonal supplement? Why is there one?

The seasonal supplement depends on your chosen departure date. Some of our partner accommodations have different prices depending on the season, so we adjust our prices accordingly. You can find information about seasonality in the "Information" tab of each cycling trip.

 

How do I return to the starting point of the tour?

If you are interested in a self-guided tour, there are several ways to return to the starting point: public transport (bus, train) or a private shuttle. Some self-guided cycling trips automatically include this return to the starting point. For others, it's an optional extra. Check the "Information" tab of the relevant cycling trip to see what is included and what is offered as an option.

 

ACCOMMODATION

 

What types and categories of accommodation are offered on the trips?

We work with carefully selected 2/3/4-star hotels and charming guesthouses. On some tours, we offer several levels of comfort:

  • Standard Category: 2/3-star hotels and charming guesthouses
  • Comfort Category: 3/4-star hotels and charming guesthouses
  • Deluxe Category: 4/5-star hotels

Find information about accommodations on the "Information" tab of the tour that interests you.

 

When should I arrive at the first accommodation?

Generally, our partner hotels allow check-in between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. This information is specified in the Welcome Documentation that you receive 2 to 3 weeks before departure. In any case, you can arrive earlier and leave your luggage in the luggage storage to enjoy the city.

 

Do you offer cycling tours with camping?

No, we do not work with campsites.

 

LUGGAGE TRANSPORT

 

Is luggage transport included?

All our tours include luggage transport between accommodations, except for our hub-and-spoke tours where there are no changes of accommodation.

 

How does luggage transfer work?

Luggage transfer is handled by us or a local partner. You must leave your luggage at reception by 9:00 AM at the latest, and it will be delivered to your next accommodation before 6:00 PM. Remember to label your luggage with the provided tags using your booking name. All the details are explained in your welcome pack.

 

BIKE RENTAL

 

What is included in the bike rental?

Whether you rent a hybrid bike or an electric bike, we always include a rear pannier, a front pannier, a lock, and a repair kit. Helmets are often offered as an option (free or for a fee depending on the tour).

 

Hybrid or electric bike rental?

It all depends on the difficulty level of the route and your fitness level. Normally, level 1 routes are doable on a hybrid bike, regardless of your fitness level. For more challenging routes, if you're unsure, book an electric bike. If you don't need the assistance, you can turn it off!

 

How does bike rental work?

Rental bikes are delivered to and picked up from your accommodation. They are delivered no later than the morning of your first day of cycling. They are usually picked up the day after your last day of cycling. At the end of your trip, leave the bikes in the location indicated by reception. Remember to lock the bikes at each accommodation.

 

What does the theft insurance cover?

In the event of bike theft, we will reimburse you for the bike, with no deductible. The theft insurance is subject to certain conditions. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for details.

 

 

BOOKING & PAYMENT

 

What are the steps in the booking process?

If you book on the website:

  • Finalize your order on the website
  • Confirmation of availability or offer of an alternative departure date
  • Payment of the deposit
  • Confirmation of the booking

If you contact us by phone or email:

  • Quote sent and accepted
  • Confirmation of availability or offer of an alternative departure date
  • Payment of the deposit
  • Confirmation of the booking

 

How to book on the website?

  1. Go to the cycling holiday that interests you
  2. Go to the “Prices” tab and fill out a form for each person with all the options that correspond to your wishes (seasonal supplements, double/single room, bike rental, etc.). Check the “Information” tab for seasonal supplements, available departure dates, etc.
  3. Finalize your order by choosing your payment method (if you pay by credit card, no payment will be taken until availability is confirmed).

 

When do I need to pay my deposit or balance?

We require a 30% deposit to confirm your booking (or 40% for bike and boat cruises). The balance is due one month before departure.

 

Why the difference between the price on my quote and the website?

The price displayed on the website is the base price. It does not include supplements (seasonal, single room, solo traveler, etc.) or optional extras.

 

When should I book my trip?

To ensure availability on your desired date, we recommend booking as soon as possible. Some departure dates on our Bike & Boat tours are sometimes fully booked a year in advance! We accept bookings up to one week before the departure date (if possible).

 

How soon can you definitively confirm the trip?

We confirm your trip as soon as possible. On average, it takes 2 business days to confirm your booking.

 

Do you book train or plane tickets to the starting point of the tour?

No, we do not book train or plane tickets to the starting point of the tour. We can, however, advise you on the best way to reach the starting point and return home once the tour is over.

 

What are the cancellation conditions for my booking?

Here is a summary of our cancellation policy:

  • Cancellation fee more than 60 days before departure: €100 per participant
  • Between 60 and 30 days before departure: 30% of the trip cost
  • Between 29 and 15 days before departure: 75% of the trip cost
  • Between 14 and 8 days before departure: 90% of the trip cost
  • 7 days or less before departure: 100% of the trip cost
