The Lot Valley Cycle Route

 

You want to explore the beautiful Lot valley, Agen, Cahors or even Villeneuve sur Lot? This cycling trip is for you! It offers exceptional landscaped panoramas along the Lot river. As you cross the Cahors vineyard, you can admire and visit many fortified and even hilltop villages.
It is also a gastronomic journey that awaits you in the Lot et Garonne with tasting of Quercy melon, Cahors wine or even truffles. You are on the Lot Valley cycle route route, mainly on small roads.

Day 1: Arrival in Agen

You are expected in Agen, at the first accommodation, a 3* hotel at the end of the afternoon. Don't hesitate to come earlier to enjoy the city of Agen. You can visit the dynamic city center of the prune capital, admire its canal bridge or take a stroll along the Garonne.

 

Day 2: Agen - Le Temple sur Lot - 59 km

Cross the Agen canal bridge by bike to join the greenway to Buzet, discovering its vineyards. You will cycle along the Garonne canal to the Lot river. From Aiguillon, you are on the Lot Valley cycle route. You can stop to admire the medieval bastides, the hillsides of orchards and the pretty villages along the route to the Temple sur Lot.

Day 3: Le Temple sur Lot - Villeneuve sur Lot - 30 km

The cycle route guides you to the bastide town of Villeneuve sur Lot through small shaded roads through apple and plum orchards. This is the famous Ente plum, which, when dried, becomes Agen's prune. On your cycling route in the Lot valley, you will cross ancient bridges and villages elected most beautiful villages in France such as Pujols.

Day 4: Villeneuve sur Lot - Puy L'Evêque - 57 km

Cross the plum orchards then the medieval village of Pujols continuing your route on the cycle route. You can visit the beautiful hilltop villages of Monsempron-Libos and Fumel. If you are ready to take a little detour, you can visit the Château de Bonaguil, a former 13th century fortified castle.
Your cycling tour ends in Puy l'Evêque, a unique and picturesque village built on a rocky promontory overlooking the Lot.

Day 5: Puy L’Evêque - Cahors - 57 km

You ride on the Lot valley cycle route which winds between orchards and vineyards and offers superb panoramas. You cross the medieval towns of Belaye and Luzech in the heart of Quercy.
Your day ends in the city of art and history of Cahors and its famous medieval bridge.

Cycling: 30 to 60 km per day or 4 to 5 hours of cycling per day

- Breakfasts: generous (coffee, tea, chocolate, milk, butter, bread, jam, orange juice)

The bike :


- Rental bicycle: If you rent a bicycle, it will be given to you on the day of your arrival at the 1st hotel. A security deposit will be requested.
At the end of the tour, you will have to leave this bike at the last accommodation and notify reception. We will take care of his return.
We offer specific equipment for children, seats, small hitched bikes and trailers.

 

- Personal bicycle: We do not recommend bicycles with small tires. Hybrid bikes and mountain bikes are excellent. Remember to check your bicycle before setting off.
At the end of the tour, you will have to take care of your own bicycle. If you have rented a bicycle, it will be picked up at the hotel.

 

Assistance:


- Assistance in case of breakdown (except punctures for which we do not intervene)
- In case of bad weather or if you cannot cycle for one day, possibility of a direct journey to the next stage (paid service).


Luggage:


They are transported by a courier or by our team and limited to one piece of luggage per person (max. 20 kg).

 

Roadbook :

 

You'll receive travel documents with practical information before your departure by post, as well as access to our hiking application by e-mail. The documents include hotel and restaurant vouchers and luggage tags.

 

Transport:


- By train: SNCF TGV to Agen in around 3 hours from Montparnasse station. For more information on timetables, contact SNCF.
- By road: A10 and A62 / E72 motorways, exit 7. Paris is 700 km from Agen.

 

Your car :


A parking space is available at the first hotel, payable locally.
