Cycling around Lake Constance, between Switzerland, Austria and Germany
Cycling Lake Constance is an exceptional route to explore. The lake is situated between Germany, Austria and Switzerland and is famous for the picturesque towns and villages that surround it, including Güttingen, Stein Am Rhein and Gottmadingen. Day 1: Individual arrival in Constance
Welcome to Constance, the largest city around the lake. The Rhine flows from Lake Constance to the North Sea. Just a few minutes' walk from the medieval town center, you can visit the Swiss town of Kreuzlingen and its lively harbor.
Day 2: Constance - Überlingen, approx. 45 km (cat. A), Constance - Ludwigshafen / Überlingen, approx. 35 - 50 km (cat. B)
You start your cycling tour along the Gnadensee to the former imperial town of Radolfzell, now a health resort. From here, you cross the Bodanrück range of hills.
Arriving at Überlinger See, part of Lake Constance, you'll be rewarded for your efforts with a breathtaking view of the lake. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely stroll along the Überlingen.
Day 3: Überlingen - Kressbronn / Lindau, approx. 45 / 60 km (cat. A), Überlingen - Kressbronn / Nonnenhorn, approx. 50 - 60 km (cat. B)
Today's cycling stage takes you along the Obersee. The first stop is the Birnau pilgrimage church. Set amidst vineyards, the square in front of this magnificently decorated Baroque church offers a beautiful view of the lake. Visit the stilt house museum in Unteruhldingen, Germany's oldest inhabited castle in Meersburg, and be impressed by the largest collection of aviation history in Friedrichshafen. Lindau's old town is located on an island.
Enjoy views of the Alps from the harbor, and admire the Lion of Bavaria and the 33-meter-high lighthouse.
Day 4: Kressbronn - Höchst / Horn / Arbon, approx. 30 - 55 km (cat. A), Kressbronn - Höchst / Rorschach, approx. 30 - 55 km (cat. B)
Not far from Lindau, you'll pass the border with Austria almost unnoticed. Stop off in Bregenz and take the cable car up to the Pfänder, Bregenz's local mountain with fantastic views of Lake Constance and over 200 Alpine peaks! Near Bregenz, you'll cross the Bregenzer Ach à Hard river, as well as the Alpenrhein river.

Day 5: Arbon - Konstanz, approx. 30 km (cat. A), Höchst - Konstanz, approx. 40 / 50 km (cat. B)
Today's route takes you through Romanshorn, Switzerland's largest port on Lake Constance.
The cycle route continues along Lake Constance and back to Konstanz.
End the day with a stroll through the old town and enjoy an ice cream in the harbor.
Day 6: Constance - Schaffhausen, approx. 50 km
Cycle along Lake Constance to Stein am Rhein, where you can admire its medieval houses adorned with frescoes.
Switching several times between Germany and Switzerland, you reach the canton's capital, Schaffhausen.
The town, whose inhabitants competed to build gables on their houses, is overlooked by Fort Munot.
Day 7: Schaffhausen - Rhine Falls - Constance, approx. 45 km + boat trip.
After breakfast, we cycle the short distance to the famous Rhine Falls, one of the largest waterfalls in Europe.
Up the Rhine, you'll return to Stein am Rhein before cycling along the Höri half-peninsula. At Gaienhofen, you board the ferry to the island of Reichenau. From there, it's just a few kilometers to Constance.
Day 8: Individual departure
After breakfast, your cycling trip around Lake Constance comes to an end.
