Around the Constance Lake in family 
 

This Lake Constance tour offers short distances and includes activities suitable for a wonderful family cycling holiday. Discover Mainau Island, the Stone Age Palafittes village and take a cable car to observe the lake from above to Pfänder Mountain in Bregenz!

Day 1: Arrival in Constance

Delivery of travel documents and handling of bicycles. Take the time to visit the old town and to discover the archaeological museum as well as Mainau Island, the famous island of flowers.
Overnight in Constance.

Day 2: Constance - Unteruhldingen  - Constance, env. 30 km + boat tour and ferry

First you cycle to Wallhausen, from where the boat takes you across the lake to Überlingen. Continuing along the lake, you reach the monastery church of Birnau, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the lake. In Unteruhldingen, you can visit the prehistoric pile dwellings. From Meersburg, the car ferry will take you back to Constance.

Day 3: Constance - Friedrichshafen, approx. 25 km + ferry

From Constance, take the ferry to Meersburg. In Meersburg, visit the castle and let yourself be transported back to the Middle Ages. Not far from the banks of Constance, continue to Friedrichshafen. At the Zeppelin Museum, technology enthusiasts will get their money's worth and discover the history of airship travel. Friedrichshafen's waterfront promenade offers beautiful views of the lake and the Alps.

Day 4: Friedrichshafen - Lindau, approx. 30 km

If you haven't visited the Zeppelin Museum yet, we recommend that you do! The road to Lindau is short and you will have time to discover these famous flying ships. On the route, you pass through Langenargen and its Montfort castle before arriving in the Bavarian town of Lindau whose port is guarded by a 6-meter-high lion!

Day 5: Lindau - Rorschach / Arbon, approx. 35 to 45 km

You should take your first break in Bregenz, the capital of the Vorarlberg region in Austria. Take the cable car (Pfänderbahn, included) which takes you to the top of Mount Pfänder and offers you a breathtaking view of the lake. Back on your bikes, you take the direction of Höchst before reaching Rorschach or Arbon.

Day 6: Rorschach / Arbon - Constance, approx. 30 to 50 km

The last day of your cycling tour takes you through Romanshorn, home to Switzerland's largest port on Lake Constance. You now continue along the shores of the lake for a return to Constance. You pass in front of many swimming spots where you can stop to cool off in the waters of the Lake. End your stay in style by visiting the Sea-life center in Constance.

Ground :

Flat, very smooth and traffic-free roads and paths, cycle paths.

Weather :

Mild, pleasant temperatures.

Technicality:

• 25 to 50 km of biking per day, or about 2 to 5 hours of cycling.
• Partly signposted route, map reading desired.

The bike :

• Rental bike: Standard bike or ebike, equipped (Bike lock, breakdown kit, waterproof pannier…) and child equipment (child seat, trailer, child’s bike). You can pick up your bike on day 2. At the end of the tour, please leave the bike at your last hotel and inform reception. We will take care of its return.  
• Personal bikes: we do not recommend bikes with small tires. Mountain and hybrid bikes are excellent. Please check your bike before departure. You will be responsible for your own bike at the end of the tour. 

Assistance:

Assistance in the event of breakdown (except punctures for which we do not intervene).

Luggage:

Luggage is transported by courier and limited to one piece per person (maximum 20 kg).

Road book :

You will receive your roadbook with luggage tags by mail before your departure. At the first hotel, you will find a complete roadbook with maps, routes descriptions and vouchers.

• By road: Constance is 260 km east of Strasbourg and 230 km from Mulhouse.
• By plane: Zurich Airport, Friedrichshafen, Stuttgart.

Your vehicle:
