Lake Constance, between Germany, Austria and Switzerland is famous for its picturesque towns and villages, such as Güttingen, Stein am Rhein and Gottmadingen.
You can admire the castle Meesburg, the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen or the houses on stilts in Uhldingen. Mainau, famous flower island and the island of Reichenau, are listed as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO and are perfect destinations for an excursion.
The city of Constance, founded in the fourth century and named after the emperor Constantius is divided by the Rhine river. On the southern bank are the historical center and the district Paradies (former district with cloisters of nuns and monks), and on the northern side are the former municipalities that were gradually annexed to the city. Located on the Swiss and German border, the border runs through the streets and houses.
The climate is temperate thanks to the lake which enables the culture of vineyards (white wine).
