Switzerland by bike, around Lake Constance

Lake Constance, located between Germany, Austria and Switzerland is famous for its picturesque towns and villages, among which are Güttingen, Stein Am Rhein and Gottmadingen. Enjoy an exceptional cycling trip on the cycle paths of Lake Constance.

Highlights of the stay:

Day 1: Individual arrival in Constance / Kreuzlingen

Take advantage of your day to visit the island of Mainau, stroll through the old town of Constance, visit the Sea
Life Center or even go to the archaeological museum.

Day 2: Constance - Gailingen / Stein am Rhein, approx. 50/30 km 

First, you cycle along the southern Swiss shore of the Untersee and pass through many villages typical of this region. Finally, you reach the picturesque small town of Stein am Rhein with its many frescoed houses. Depending on where you stay for the night, you can cross the border again to reach Gailingen or Hemmenhofen.

Day 3: Gailingen / Stein am Rhein - Ludwigshafen / Sipplingen / Überlingen, approx. 40 to 60 km 

Today you take a tour of the romantic peninsula of Höri. The painter Otto Dix and the well-known author Hermann Hesse lived here. In the old imperial town of Radolfzell you take a short break before crossing the Bodendruck. Continue your journey towards Überlingen.

Day 4: Überlingen - Kressbronn / Nonnenhorn, approx. 50 to 60 km 

From Überlingen you walk through the vineyards to Friedrichshafen. On the way you will pass the baroque pilgrimage church of Birnau. In Meersburg, take a break to stroll through the old town and discover its castle. In Friedrichshafen we recommend a visit to the Zeppelin Museum. You continue through vast orchards to Kressbronn or Lindau.

Day 5: Kressbronn - Höchst / Rorschach, approx. 30/55 km 

You soon reach Bregenz, the capital of Austria's Vorarlberg region, famous for its annual festival. You finally reach Höchst where you soon cross the border again. You eventually join Rorschach, Horn or Arbon.

Day 6: Höchst - Constance, approx. 40/50 km 

The last day of your tour will take you through Romanshorn, where you can see Switzerland's largest port on Lake Constance.
You continue along the shores of Lake Constance to return to Constance. End your stay by enjoying the city of Constance.

After breakfast you start your individual return journey or extend your stay

Weather :

Technicality:

- 60 to 85 km of hiking per day, or about 4 to 5 hours of cycling.

- Partly signposted route, map reading desired.

An additional night is offered to you at the start and end of your stay.

The bike :

- Rental bike: 21-speed VTC. It can be picked up from our correspondent in Constance.

 At the end of the tour, you will have to leave the rented bike at the hotel and notify reception.

- Personal bike: We do not recommend bikes with small tires. Hybrid bikes and mountain bikes are excellent. Remember to check your bicycle before setting off.

At the end of the circuit, you will have to take care of your bike.

Assistance:

Assistance in the event of breakdown (except punctures for which we do not intervene).

Luggage:

During the stay, they are transported by a courier or by our team and limited to one piece of luggage per person. (max. 20 kg)

Road book :

The road book with the description of the routes is given to you by post or email before your departure. Our partner on site will give you the vouchers for hotels and restaurants as well as labels for luggage.

- By road: Bregenz is 260 km east of Strasbourg and 230 km from Mulhouse.
- By plane: Zurich Airport, Friedrichshafen, Stuttgart.

Possibility of parking with our local correspondent 40 € per week or free parking in town.
