Mosel Valley by bike

 

 

Experience an unforgettable journey through the Moselle Valley by bicycle, between Trier and Koblenz through vineyards and charming picturesque villages. The castles and ruins perched on the hills offer you exceptional panoramas over the Moselle. The river crosses France, Luxembourg and part of romantic Germany to empty into the Rhine at Koblenz.

Day 1 - Arrival in Trier


Installation at the hotel in Trier, picking up the bikes and handing over your stay documents.
Overnight in Trier.

 

Day 2 - From Trier to Trittenheim - 45 km


Circuit along the Moselle, through Schweich, the small town of Trittenheimer Moselschleife and Neumagen-Dhron the oldest German wine village. Wine tasting. Overnight in Trittenheim.

 

Day 3 - From Trittenheim to Zell - 65 km


Cycling through the many vineyards between Bernkastel-Kues to Traben-Trarbach architectural gem, Art Nouveau town where you can admire the ruins of Grevenburg Castle. Continue to Zell where one of the largest Moselle vineyards is located.
Overnight in Zell.

 

Day 4 - From Zell to Cochem - 36 km


Direction Bremm then discover the remarkable ruins of the cloister of Stuben, Beilstein and the ruins of the Metternich castle, famous in the region as Rothenburg an der Moselle. Arrival in the medieval town of Cochem where many visits are possible such as Reichsburg Castle.
Overnight in Cochem.

 

Day 5 - From Cochem to Koblenz - 51 km


On this cycle stage, you will have the opportunity to see many castles such as Eltz Castle in Moselkern. You continue to the castles of Bischofstein and Hatzenport, then you reach the wine villages of Kobern-Gondorf, Güls and finally Koblenz. Overnight in Coblenz.

 

Day 6 - From Koblenz to Trier


The return is scheduled in the morning by train.
You have the possibility to book an extra night in Trier, Metz or Koblenz.

Ground :


Flat, very smooth roads and paths. Cycle tracks all along the Moselle.
 
Weather :


Soft sun, a little wind, pleasant temperature.
 
Technicality :


37 to 60 km of hiking per day, or about 3 to 5 hours of cycling.
Easy to follow route, accessible to all cyclists.

Meals :


Breakfasts: generous (coffee, tea, chocolate, milk, butter, bread, jam, orange juice) or buffet.
Lunches: not included
Dinners: half-board option, restaurant at the hotel or near the accommodation.
 
The bike :


- Rental bike: 21-speed VTC will be returned to you at the first hotel. You will be asked for a security deposit.
At the end of the tour, you will have to leave the rented bike at the last hotel and notify reception.
 
- Personal bike: We do not recommend bikes with small tires. Hybrid bikes and mountain bikes are excellent. Remember to check your bicycle before setting off. At the end of the circuit, you will have to take care of your own bicycle (a supplement is requested for the return of your bicycle)
 
Assistance:
 
Assistance in the event of breakdown (except punctures for which we do not intervene).
 
Return transfer:
 
The return is made by train. 
 
Luggage :


During the stay, they are transported by a courier or by our team and limited to one piece of luggage per person (max. 20 kg).
 
Roadbook :


We will provide you with detailed maps and a description of the routes when you arrive at the first hotel. We will also give you vouchers for hotels and restaurants as well as luggage tags.
 
Transport :


- By train: TGV and Eurostar station to Trier.
- By road: Trier is 430 km east of Paris. A31 between Luxembourg and Nancy or A4 between Paris and Luxembourg and Trier (Treves).
- By plane: Metz airport.
 
Your vehicle :


A parking space is possible at the first hotel by reservation or parking near the hotel.
