Cycling trip in the heart of Périgord Noir

Day 1: Arrival in Sarlat la Canéda
Sarlat is classified as a city of art and history from the 9th century with its winding streets and its large Benedictine abbey. This medieval city has the highest density of historical monuments classified or registered in the world. Take the time to explore this exceptional city.

Day 2: Sarlat - Les Eyzies - 25 km
If you haven't toured Sarlat, you can still enjoy the city before getting on the bikes to start your journey in the Dordogne. Take the opportunity to take a walk in its famous market. Then join the Vézère vValley and Les Eyzies by bike. On your route, you will find many caves, deposits or shelters under rocks.

Day 3: Les Eyzies - Sarlat - 25 to 45 km
There are two options for this day's cycling to the famous Lascaux cave:
- Short option of 25 km with return to Sarlat via a new route.
- 45 km long option passing through Lascaux to visit the Lascaux caves.
The Lascaux cave is a prehistoric masterpiece containing paintings and engravings depicting signs and animals. Discovered in 1940, it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 4: Sarlat - Souillac - 30 to 52 km
You leave Sarlat by bike via a greenway on a former railway line along the Dordogne valley to Cazoulès near Souillac. You ride on a safe and easy route through a varied landscape between forests and small villages.
By choosing the long option, you can visit the village of La Roque-Gageac and even reach Beynac or Dommes by bike.

Day 5: Rocamadour loop tour - 42 km
Discover the wonders of Périgord Noir by bike by making this loop to reach the sacred city of Rocamadour, an essential stopover. This medieval cliff-top town overlooks the Alziou canyon. It is also a high place of pilgrimage on the road to St Jacques de Compostela.
In Rocamadour, do not miss the Saint Sauveur basilica, the Saint Amadour crypt and its Notre-Dame chapel which houses the Black Virgin.
