  • seaside landscapes and endless beaches
  • Moorish architecture
  • gastronomy
  • exceptional sites

Day 1: Transfer from Faro to Tavira

After your arrival, we'll drive you to Altura. It's a pretty little town on one of the region's most beautiful beaches. Located in the eastern Algarve, between the popular towns of Vila Real de Santo António and Tavira, it is surrounded by a magnificent forest of Scots pines, dunes and flora.

Take advantage of your free time to explore and discover the surrounding area. You can also have a drink by the pool, enjoy a Mediterranean dish and indulge in moments of total relaxation and pure escape to start your cycling holiday in the Algarve!

Day 2: Loop around Tavira - 38 km

This magnificent stage takes you through small villages and along old roads and country lanes. You'll pass through a vast orange grove with its intoxicating scent. Continue on to the "Pego do Inferno", where you can admire a beautiful waterfall. Enjoy the scenery on your return to Tavira, where you'll spend another night at the Vila Galé.

Day 3: Tavira to Vale das Gralhas - 49 km

After a hearty breakfast, another day of discoveries awaits you along the incredible Ria Formosa. This is one of the region's most beautiful natural parks and a veritable birdwatcher's paradise. This stage of your Algarve cycling tour is the highlight of the trip and offers epic panoramas. Before reaching the town of Olhao, you'll cycle inland, through small villages and vast orange groves. Take time to pick a fruit and sit between the orange trees for a well-deserved break.

Your day ends in a rural hotel in Vale das Gralhas.

Day 4: Vale das Gralhas to Querença - 40 km

Explore the hidden secrets of the Algarve on this day's cycling through the hills. This is the most challenging day, but your efforts will be amply rewarded by breathtaking panoramas.

Along the way, you'll visit Sao Bras de Alportel, home to Portugal's largest cork production. A selection of paths then lead you through fields and Mediterranean flora and fauna, purifying both body and mind!

You finally arrive at the typical village of Querença, where you'll spend the night.

Day 5: Querença to Silves - 65 km

Another stimulating day of cycling through rolling countryside. You'll be rewarded once again by the marvellous views that await you. You cycle along narrow old roads through a landscape dominated by carob and fig trees.

The stage continues through a valley of cork oaks. The most attractive part of this day is the beautiful walk along a path near the Arade dam and your descent down the valley to the historic town of Silves. Take time to explore the castle and town center before resting for the night at the hotel.

Day 6: Silves to Lagos - 51 km

Today you're off to Lagos, one of the oldest towns in the Algarve.

You leave Silves and drive along the Odelouca to Odiaxere before reaching the sea!

Admire and enjoy the magnificent "Meia praia" beach.  Then cross the river over the "Bensafrim" bridge to Lagos (meaning lake), a cosmopolitan city. It's also one of the most visited towns in the Algarve.

You spend the night in Lagos at the Dom Manuel I.

Day 7: Lagos to Sagres - 58 km

This is the most challenging stage, with many variations in terrain to reach the cliff-lined coastline of Sagres and Cape Sao Vicente.

You follow the coastline along pretty paths to Ponta da Piedade. Here, enjoy a fantastic view of the cliffs and rocks and their dazzling mix of colors. The route continues through beautiful landscapes and small coastal villages. On arrival in Sagres, you can return to your hotel or continue exploring for a further 6 km to Cape Sao Vicente, the extreme western tip of Portugal's southern coast.

Day 8: End of your cycling trip in Portugal

All good things must come to an end! Your cycling holiday in the beautiful Algarve region comes to an end after breakfast. You'll be transferred to Faro for your return journey.
