The Tulip Route in Holland on the Magnifique II

Discover the Netherlands by bike between Amsterdam, Oude Wetering and Haarlem, crossing the huge tulip fields! Visit the most beautiful regions of the Netherlands on this short bike and boat trip aboard the Magnifique II. Visit the beautiful city of Amsterdam and its canals and see the famous flower markets in the region.

The main points of interest on the Tulip Route :

• the historic city of Haarlem.

Day 1: Amsterdam | Amsterdam - Zaandam

Boarding and check-in on the Magnifique II at 2 p.m. Once all passengers are on board, a short cruise takes you to Zaandam, a village famous for its windmills. Your boat is docked in the city center for the night. Upon arrival, you can test your bike in the surrounding area. In the evening, enjoy a short stroll through the picturesque center of Zaandam.

Day 2: Zaandam - Zaanse Schans - Zaandam | Zaandam - Haarlem (24 km or 34 km)

After breakfast, you cycle 5 km to the open-air museum “Zaanse Schans” with its superb windmills, traditional wooden houses, old Dutch village, cheese farm and traditional wooden clog maker. In the afternoon, you can:

•  cycling (24 km) to Haarlem
•  relaxing on board while admiring the scenery.

In Haarlem, visit the historical city center with the Grote Markt and Saint Bavo Church. The Magnifique II is moored not far from the center of Haarlem for the night, so you have time for a short stroll around town in the afternoon or evening.

Day 3 : Haarlem - Keukenhof - Oude Wetering (39 km or 57 km)

Today you go to the Keukenhof, the world's most famous flower park, where you can admire hundreds of thousands of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and many other flowers in full bloom. After a long visit, you take your bike back to Oude Wetering, where the boat awaits you.

Day 4 : Oude Wetering - Nieuwe Meer - Amsterdam (28 km)

Optional visit : morning bus tour (6.30am) of the world's largest flower auction in Aalsmeer. In the morning, millions of flowers are auctioned off and sent to all parts of the world. At 9 a.m., you return to your houseboat for a late breakfast while cruising.

In the afternoon you can take a final bike ride to reach Amsterdam. Visit the Amsterdam city center flower market, a museum or take the opportunity to shop.

Optional: canal tour at the end of the day in Amsterdam.

Day 5 : Amsterdam

Disembarkation after breakfast until 9:30 am : end of your trip.

All distances are 'approximate distances' of recommended cycling routes. The week's program can be changed at any time for nautical, technical or meteorological reasons.

Weather :

Contrary to popular belief, the temperature in the Netherlands is similar to the temperature in France. Near the coast, the weather is sometimes windy.

Technicality :

0 to 57 km of cycling per day, or about 5 to 6 hours of cycling maximum.

Accompaniment :

People responsible for your bike and boat holidays are : 
On board, the captain and his mate. They are responsible for the smooth running of the vacation on the boat, and bring the boat from stage to stage. The cook prepares the meals.
Each morning, if you wish, you can get benefit from advice on the route to follow and on additional tourist information.

Meals :

• Breakfast : on board, you will find adutch breakfast
• Lunch : after the breakfast, you will prepare by yourself a “packed lunch” from the buffet(sandwich, fruit, snack, drinks).
• Snack : after the daily route, you will find, when you arrive on the boat, various drinks such as tea and coffee prepared for your return.
• Dinner : at least three dishes. After dinner, you may take a cup of coffee or tea.

Other drinks, such as wine, beer, lemonade and mineral water, are not included but can be purchased on board at a reasonable price.

Bike :

• The bike will be fitted with panniers, a lock, and a tire repair kit. There is no helmet on board.
• If you take your own bike, it cannot be insured against theft by our company, you will have to make the necessary arrangements with your usual insurer. Do not forget your anti-theft. The return of your bike will be at your expense.

Transport : Geographic location

• By train : the departure towns for the bike and boat tours are served by the railway. Amsterdam train station is very well connected : several trains daily run to and from France. Thalys is faster.
• By plane : AMSTERDAM international airport.

Your vehicle : 

We strongly advise against parking cars on the streets of Amsterdam. Information on guarded parking lots in the city can be found on the following website : parkingcentrumoosterdok.nl.
