Provence is a historic region of France bordering the Mediterranean and bounded by the Rhône River to the west and the Alps to the east. This destination enchants all visitors who come here. And for good reason: it's full of treasures, colors, scents, and specialties that awaken all our senses. Provence by bike is ideal for an unforgettable vacation. We offer several tours to discover all its facets: embark on the ViaRhôna, mix the pleasures of cycling between Ardèche, Camargue, and Provence, cycle along the Côte d'Azur, or visit a remarkable Roman heritage site departing from Avignon.
Provence has a strong Roman and medieval heritage. The hinterland villages, sometimes perched high above the mountains, have a touch of yesteryear and guarantee delightful journeys back in time. Cities like Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, and Orange have preserved important remains and monuments from the Roman era. Provence by bike also boasts fertile lands where vineyards, orchards, and lavender fields grow on the hillsides, coloring the landscape and inspiring famous painters.
On the Mediterranean side, the atmosphere is a little different. Seaside resorts, picturesque ports, and lively towns take turns to bring you to the Provençal rhythm. The landscapes are often spectacular, particularly in the Calanques à vélo (Cycling Calanques) with Cassis and La Ciotat. This jagged coastline of red and white rocks is a feast for the eyes.
Avignon, city of the Popes, is the starting point for this magnificent route that leads you to the Ardèche Gorges. After catching up with the Rhône, discovering magnificent orchards along the way, you reach the neighboring department of Provence, Ardèche. With its sculpted rocks, beautiful villages, and a magnificent valley, it's a feast for the eyes. Return to the starting point via another iconic Provençal town, Orange.
This tour between Aigues-Morte and Avignon extends the enjoyment to the Camargue. This natural region located in the Rhône delta promises unique landscapes and preserved flora and fauna. This is a full-board tour. Let yourself be guided by the captain and his crew!
The ViaRhôna (EuroVelo 17) follows the Rhône from its source to its mouth. The route naturally passes through Provence. It is possible to combine the ViaRhôna and Provence by bike on the circuit from Vienne to Avignon.
