The Wadden Sea and Lake IJsselmer

The “Wadden Sea”, classified as a biosphere reserve, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the habitat of marine mammals, such as seals and porpoises, and the nesting and wintering grounds of millions of birds. The region is one of the last large-scale ecosystems.

On this sailing boat and bicycle tour you can explore the beautiful and unique Friesian Sea and some of its islands. You can admire the large inland lake IJsselmeer with its magnificent coastline with its many fishing villages and its ancient port cities.

The highlights of this tour are the islands of Texel and Terschelling. They are located in the North Sea. You can explore their beautiful natural areas, their small villages and their long sandy beaches by bicycle. On the mainland coasts of the provinces of North Holland and Friesland, there is a combination of rural areas, small villages and picturesque port cities: a veritable "El Dorado" for cyclists.
