Cycling along the Canal de la Garonne

Bike trip from Toulouse to Bordeaux

Less famous than the part south of Toulouse and yet ... This circuit stops in Langon, the track from Langon to Bordeaux may be one day but for the moment these are shared routes which do not meet the standards that we offer on our bicycle trips "green bicycle" so it is possible to do so but less secure.

Surprise this year, you can follow part of the Lot valley to Villeneuve sur Lot.

Completed in 1856, the Garonne side canal is ideal for young and old. Its towpaths, greenways and cycle paths are in excellent condition and allow you to pedal in peace and make the most of the tourist interests of the route.
Between Toulouse and Bordeaux, the heritage is rich (53 locks, the Saint-Pierre de Moissac Abbey classified by UNESCO, the washhouses of Valence d'Agen, the pink city, the Place de la Bourse ...) and you cross the prestigious Médoc vineyards and charming villages of the South West (Castelsarrasin, Agen, Tonneins, Langon ...).

The Canal des 2 Mers by bike

The Canal de la Garonne is, in fact, the extension of the Canal du Midi to connect the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. The set of two canals is called the Canal des 2 Mers. Today it is a recognized route for cycle tourists across Europe. The charm of the South West, the local gastronomy and the rich heritage along the route seduce many bicycle travelers each year. If you want to know more, see our page dedicated to the Canal des 2 Mers by bike.
