You start your journey in the historic city of Murcia or Lorca, nicknamed "the baroque city" because of the important heritage of this architectural style in the old town. Over 5,500 years old, the Romans, Visigoths and Muslims shaped this city which today has about 60,000 inhabitants. Two other remarkable cities await you on this bike route steeped in history.
First of all, Caravaca de la Cruz, which is the fifth most holy city in the world among Catholics after Jerusalem, Rome, Santo Toribio de Liébana and Santiago de Compostela. The city is also known for its sanctuary "Vera Cruz", perched in the middle of the city and recognizable by its facade built in red marble.
Finally, Cieza and its 35,000 inhabitants, offer several archaeological sites classified as World Heritage by UNESCO, to discover aboslument.
Between these cities, wonderful landscapes and many picturesque villages catch the attention of the visitor. Nature has been very generous with this province of Spain and there are amazing contrasts in this territory: olive and almond groves, the Sierra de María-Los Vélez Natural Park or the freshness of the edges. Segura River.
Like all of southern Spain, the region is subject to high temperatures in July and August. It is therefore recommended to go "out of season" to fully enjoy the stay.
