Hello and welcome to our home. La bicyclette verte has been organizing bicycle trips in this area since 1986, we are 2 km from the Vendée and 10 km from the Charente maritime in the Marais Poitevin natural park. A somewhat forgotten place in a village of 550 inhabitants in Deux Sèvres here the internet is going at the speed of its beginnings.
But it is precisely this oversight that endures the quality of the environment and the cycle paths of "home" and which motivated us. The tracks, the paths, the bridges, the footbridges, the maraîchin ports, the curiosities ... we know them.
Trust us !
The Vendée is a region where cycling infrastructure is very developed. The territory has an excellent network which makes it possible to cycle along the coast, but also the hedged farmland, the Marais Poitevin and the agglomerations. It is a very dynamic and touristic region where it is good to live and stay. In addition, the passion for cycling (road) is very great and you will come across many amateurs skimming the small country roads.
Our tours take place in the south of the Vendée. From Niort and its "Venise verte", you take the direction of Fontenay-le-Comte by taking advantage of the Marais Poitevin natural park by bike. Once you arrive in the Vendée sub-prefecture, take the opportunity to visit the "old Fontenay", admire its Renaissance residences or relax in the Parc Baron.
The forest of Mervent (largest forest estate in Vendée) and the medieval town of character, Vouvant, are also on the program and allow you to soak up the legend of the local fairy, Mélusine.
You leave Vendée only to reach La Rochelle and the magnificent Charentais coastline.
If you are looking to pedal along the sea, we have adapted formulas. Discover our cycling holidays inspired by the Vélodyssée, and take advantage of the many islands and curiosities that the Atlantic coast offers in Charente-Maritime. We also have the Marais to the sea circuit which offers a perfect balance between the Vendée hedged farmland, the Poitevin marshes and the Atlantic coast.
