The Loire by bike is an exceptional cycling route which crosses one of the most beautiful regions of France! This cycle path goes from Nevers (Nièvre) to Saint-Brévin-les-Pins (Loire Atlantique). The Loire cycling route follows the course of the river and passes through cities that have made the history of France such as Orléans, Tours, Angers or Nantes.
The Loire by bike is more broadly part of the European "Eurovelo 6" cycling route. This famous Eurovelo connects the Black Sea to the Atlantic (3,650 km) through 10 countries and the most beautiful rivers in Europe. The Danube or the Rhine are other rivers marking this European cycling route. If you wish to cycle the Danube, consult our circuits: on a bicycle and boat trip or on a "classic" bicycle holiday formula.
The Loire by bike is one of the most famous and most traveled French routes. This success is due to several aspects:
- Tourist interests: internationally renowned castles such as the Château de Villandry, the Château d'Ussé or Azay-le-Rideau. Prestigious monuments such as the splendid and essential Abbey of Fontevraud from the 12th century. Magnificent towns and villages such as Chinon, Montreuil Bellay or Saumur. Finally you will appreciate a surprising flora and fauna and an exceptional diversity ... There is something for everyone.
- 800 km of marked and secure routes between Nevers and Saint-Brévin-les-Pins are made to accommodate everyone: vacationers, itinerant passages, residents traveling by bicycle, large families, couples, small, large , young, old ...
- "Last but not least" as we say across the Channel, the local gastronomy is rich and much appreciated. The Loire Valley is fertile and, depending on the season, you can eat typical products and specialties such as strawberries, asparagus, truffles, saffron, Vouvray andouillette, Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine, without forget the wines (Saumur, Chinon, Savennières, Layon ...).
