Day 1: Arrival in Mallnitz
Here you are in the Hohe Tauern region, in Mallnitz (1,191 m above sea level), surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery.
Your rental bike will be available at the hotel.
Day 2: From Mallnitz to Spittal or Seeboden (54 km)
The Alpe Adria cycle path guides you along the valley floor to Obervellach and the verdant Drau Valley. After Möllbrücke, you cycle towards the shores of Lake Millstätter See to Seeboden. If you wish, you can take the car-free Millstätter See cycle path to Sappl, at the foot of Alpe Millstätter.
Day 3: From Spittal or Seeboden to Tarvisio (69 km)
This cycling stage follows the Drau River via Paternion, offering magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. Continue along the Gail River through unspoiled nature to the border triangle where Austria meets Italy and Slovenia, then on to Arnoldstein and Tarvisio.
Day 4: From Tarvisio to Carnia or Osoppo (59-72 km)
Today, a beautiful cycling stage awaits you on the Alpe Adria cycle path. You'll cycle along the Fella River in the narrow Val Canale valley. The route follows the old railway line to Pontebba. After a short stretch of road, you'll cycle towards Carnia or Osoppo.
Day 5: From Carnia or Osoppo to Udine (58-63 km)
This stage takes place partly on a section closed to cars, near the Tagliamento River, or on secondary roads. You pass Osoppo with its historic fortress and the wine-growing village of Buia. The route continues through the fertile Friulian landscape, characterized by rolling hills and vineyards, before reaching your destination for the day, Udine, a beautiful market town with many tourist attractions (Piazza della Libertà, Duomo, Old Town).
Day 6: From Udine to Grado (63 km)
You cycle on dedicated bike paths through romantic villages such as Pavia and Palmanova, a Venetian fortified town (16th century) with its Piazza Grande, cathedral, Renaissance palaces, and fully preserved city walls. Continue cycling via Cervignano to Aquileia, the Roman imperial residence (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Crossing the lagoon, you can reach the small port town of Grado and its beautiful sandy beaches.
Day 7: Grado
Return from your hotel in Grado to Mallnitz (included - no personal bicycles allowed).
