Located in the north of the Netherlands, Friesland is one of its oldest regions, carrying a tradition jealously preserved by its inhabitants. One end of the Netherlands where indications are written in 2 languages, Frisian and Dutch. Country of character that reminds me of the britany regions of France where it is good to walk.
Day 1- Arrival in Leeuwarden.
Historic city and capital of Friesland, dotted with these famous canals that associated with red brick and green pasture gives the character so particular to the typical Dutch landscape. Bridges, city center, warm colors, nature museums, and the Princessehof, that good reasons to linger. Installation at your hotel Night and breakfast.
Day 2 - Leeuwarden - Sneek 50km
Getting started with the bikes and departure for a first circuit on the legendary Dutch tracks. Sneek, historic city, once surrounded by water of canals and fortifications. To see the center of the city, the Martini church, the small bridges that span the canals and the fluvial activity. Night and breakfast in Sneek.
Day 3 Sneek - Harich 55 km
Harich, located near the IJsselmeer (Lake IJssel). Passage through Sloten, which is with its 700 inhabitants the smallest 'city' along this circuit which offers 11 cities of this historic region. Enjoy a stop in the small village Balk, to enjoy the superb view of the Frisian landscapes. Night and breakfast in Harich.
Day 4 Harich - Bolsward 55 km
The small town of Bolsward is known in the Netherlands for its picturesque streets. You can not miss Stavoren, nowadays very well known among lovers of water sports, and Workum. At the time, all these towns around the lake (Ijsselmeer) had a good trade activity around fishing. It remains traces of this splendid period with beautiful period houses as in the city of 'Hanze' and many others. Night and breakfast in Bolsward.
Day 5 Bolsward - Franeker 45 km
An emotional day, when you discover the port of Harlingen, a big straight line that looks directly on the North Sea, with each side of the old rigging winking at the top of the mast.
Let's take the road to the stage, FRANEKER in Frisian Frjentsjer (very difficult to pronounce and our tests are a lot of fun for the Dutch), a village that houses one of the oldest universities in the Netherlands, the University of Friesland. You can also see the oldest planetarium in Europe still in operation. Night and breakfast in Franeker.
Day 6 Franeker - Dokkum 60 km
This city of Dokkum has preserved its architectural heritage and now knows how to present it to us. Thus you will find the fortifications and the restored ramparts. Add to these curiosities some canals and the traditional Dutch mills. You will understand then that it is a region of which one can fall in love. Night and breakfast in Dokum.

Last circuit through the green landscapes where the Friesian cows graze quietly watching the passing ... the bikes. Passage through the cities of Rinsumageest and Burdaard.
