From Redon to Quimper by bike along the Canal de Nantes à Brest

DAY 1 - Arrival in Redon
Redon is at the gateway to the Gulf of Morbihan, and the Redon river junction is the starting point of your journey through Central Brittany. As a warm-up, take the time to stroll along the quays, cross the bridges and footbridges, and admire the old homes of shipowners and merchants.

DAY 2 - Redon to Josselin / 58 km
Pick up your bikes in the Oust Valley, which unveils its wonders north of Redon. The canal and river frame spectacular sites all the way to Malestroit, the 'pearl of the Oust.' Discover this charming little town with character.

DAY 3 - Josselin to Pontivy / 50 km
Built on the hillside, the splendid medieval city of Josselin will welcome you after riding few kilometers. The impressive castle is an emblematic witness to discover the history of Brittany. Its numerous little alleyways, bordered by wood houses, are ideal to roam.
DAY 4 - Pontivy to Guerlédan / 23 to 59 km
Today, the bike ride between Pontivy and Guerlédan lets you discover the beauty of the Breton countryside. Starting from Pontivy, a historic town with its Rohan castle, you’ll follow peaceful little roads along the Oust Valley, passing through fields and picturesque hamlets. The route ends by the stunning Guerlédan Lake, where you can admire the spectacular scenery before reaching Guerlédan, a peaceful village by the water.
Upon arrival in Guerlédan, you have the option to extend your ride with a walk around the lake (+13km). If you're feeling more adventurous, you can also cycle around the entire lake (+35km).

DAY 5 - Guerlédan to Carhaix-Plouguer / 60 km
The bike route between Guerlédan and Carhaix-Plouguer, right in the heart of Brittany, offers a beautiful immersion in nature. The journey begins at the edge of Guerlédan Lake, a perfect spot to enjoy the tranquility of the valley. Along the way, you’ll pass through diverse landscapes, from small roads to forests, and pass by a few typical Breton villages. Gradually, you’ll head deeper into the Breton countryside, reaching Carhaix-Plouguer, a town where history, heritage, and local traditions blend. This is the perfect route for those seeking a moment of peace while discovering the authentic corners of the region.

DAY 6 - Carhaix-Plouguer to Chateauneuf du Faou / 38 km
On this day, set off through the landscapes of central Brittany. Starting from Carhaix, you’ll follow lush and peaceful paths, passing through typical hamlets and tranquil rivers. You’ll discover the beauty of the Breton valleys, with lush forests and open fields. As you approach Châteauneuf-du-Faou, the local architecture and views of the Nantes-Brest canal add a historical touch to the journey. The town is famous for its traditional stone houses, its Saint-Pierre church, and its green surroundings.

DAY 7 - Châteauneuf du Faou to Quimper / 43 km (or via Châteaulin 71km)
Fork in the road: take the long route leading to Châteaulin and then to Quimper, or the shorter version directly to Quimper via the designated path.
You’ll cross through the heart of a legendary territory. On the long route, finish with a photo at Guily Glaz (the last lock before the sea!). End of your journey in Quimper. Let yourself be charmed by this iconic Breton city with its three old quarters, lively streets, and bustling shops.
