Brittany by bike, around the Gulf of Morbihan

You start your cycling holiday in Vannes, in a medieval world where land and sea intermingle, then set off for a tour of "Morbihan" in Brittany! It is an island-to-peninsula journey by smugglers to discover the natural and historical riches of this exceptional territory where life is good! Explore the marshes, enjoy the lights of the rising sun while watching the fishermen on their boats.

Day 1 - Vannes
Free arrival in Vannes and check-in at your accommodation. Immerse yourself in the medieval atmosphere of the city, with its ramparts, cobbled streets, and half-timbered houses. Enjoy a stroll through the old town and along the lively port, lined with cafés, restaurants, and shops. A welcome meeting and departure briefing will be provided (on day 1 or 2).

Day 2 - Vannes - l'île d'Arz - 15 km
Approx. 3 km from the pier, you leave the beautiful city of Vannes on a ferry boat to the island of Arz. Free bike ride to discover the island. Enjoy this peaceful haven as you ride through the narrow streets and houses with their colorful shutters.

Boat crossing: round trip between Île d’Arz and Vannes (30 minutes each way).
Day 3 - Vannes - Arzon - between 38 and 44 km or another option between 45 and 52 km
Today, set off to explore the Séné Peninsula before boarding a small ferry to reach the Rhuys Peninsula. Ride along the southern shores of the "little sea" until you arrive in Arzon. This is a pleasant and scenic cycling route, following small roads and wide paths.
Along the way, take charming backroads and greenways to discover the famous Château de Suscinio and the picturesque village of Sarzeau.

Boat crossing: to the Rhuys Peninsula (approx. 5 min).
Day 4 - Arzon - day trip to L'île aux Moines - 15 km
Today, head to the pier for Île aux Moines! A short bike ride will take you to the embarkation point, where a small ferry will bring you to the island.
Enjoy a self-guided cycling tour to explore the island’s rich flora and fauna. Nicknamed the "Pearl of the Gulf," Île aux Moines will charm you with its narrow streets, stone houses, and blooming gardens. This day is also a perfect opportunity to savor local specialties, such as fresh seafood, crêpes, galettes, and cider.
Return in the late afternoon (around 5:00 PM).

Boat crossing: Round trip to Île aux Moines (1 hour total).
Day 5 - Arzon - Carnac - 29 or 35 km
Board a small ferry to cross the waters of the Gulf of Morbihan and reach the northern shore, where more of Morbihan’s treasures await. Cycle through diverse landscapes, from wild coves to charming villages, before arriving at the famous Carnac alignments, home to the region’s largest standing stones. Along the way, take in breathtaking views of Quiberon Bay.

Boat crossing: One-way Port-Navalo – Locmariaquer (25 minutes).
Day 6 - Carnac, Ria d'Etel loop - 56 km
Set off to explore the Ria d'Étel, leaving behind the tranquil waters of the Gulf of Morbihan for new horizons. Cycle to Île de Saint-Cado, a true Breton gem, famous for its picturesque blue-shuttered house on the water and stunning landscapes.
On the way back to Carnac, ride along shaded paths, winding through the Breton countryside and its charming granite houses.

Day 7 - Carnac to Vannes - 57 km
From Carnac, head towards Auray and its historic port of Saint-Goustan, a charming spot with cobbled streets and half-timbered houses. Continue your cycling journey along the Gulf of Morbihan, a true inland sea with ever-changing landscapes, featuring small islands, wild coves, and marshlands.
Make the most of this final stage to soak in the coastal beauty before returning to Vannes.
