You are in the vicinity of the Weerribben-Wieden National Park, in the idyllic village of Giethoorn, in the province of Overijssel.

Here you can see many thatched farms built on peat islands, connected by more than 170 wooden bridges.

The ponds, reed beds and woods offer a calm and serene environment in the middle of an exceptional green nature.
Night and breakfast in Giethoorn.

DAY 2: Giethoorn to Nunspeet (61 km)

Ride your bike to the Hanseatic city of Kampen, located on the river Ijssel.

You will pass through the beautiful walled city of Elburg and small lakes.

Your cycling destination of the day is the village of Nunspeet, which is located near the largest forest area in the Netherlands: the Veluwe.

DAY 3: Nunspeet to Huizen (59 km)

Your cycling trip in the Netherlands continues in the old harbor town of Harderwijk and the fishing village Spakenburg.

On the wooded banks of 't Gooi, you cycle to Huizen, where you will spend the night. Huizen borders a large lake that offers an ideal natural setting to recharge your batteries. It also has a rich cultural heritage.

Its name means "houses" in Dutch, as Huizen was the first municipality to build stone houses. Like most towns in the Gooi, Huizen became gentrified with the arrival of wealthy Amstellodeners who came to build mansions there after the Second World War.

DAY 4: Huizen to Volendam (55 km)

Today, start your day with a ferry crossing on the Ijsselmeer. You will then reach the Waterland nature area which is located north of the city of Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands! This area is exceptionally rich in flora and fauna: birds, meadows, old canals, rivers... An ideal place to enjoy cycling! Continue your ride to the island village of Marken, known for its houses built entirely of wood. You will then reach Volendam by boat or by bike, where you will spend the night.

DAY 5: Volendam to Enkhuizen (55 km)

This cycling stage invites you to cross the old Zuiderzee dike near the cheese town of Edam and the picturesque town of Hoorn.

Hoorn is an emblematic city of the Netherlands. In addition to its many listed buildings and protected cityscape, you can also enjoy walks and fine dining.

You will reach Enkhuizen to spend the night. Enjoy a tour of the city and be sure to visit the Zuiderzee museum.

DAY 6 : Enkhuizen - boat trip to Stavoren - bike to Lemmer (45 km)

You cross the Ijsselmeer by ferry to the Frisian town of Stavoren. You can take a trip to the picturesque village Hindeloopen. Afterwards, you can cycle through the wooded and hilly countryside of Gaasterland to the town of Workum, known for its beautiful facades, monumental buildings and water-rich environment. The town is especially popular with water sports enthusiasts.

Afterwards, return to your hotel in the port city of Lemmer.

DAY 7: Lemmer to Giethoorn (40 km)

You cycle along the Lemmer steam pumping station to the Weerribben Park.
This national park is the largest wetland area in northwestern Europe.
End of the tour in Giethoorn after the cycling stage. Extra night in Giethoorn possible.
